In addition to the popular 1.5m and 2.5m lengths of DBH tape, we now also stock loose DBH tape in 5m lengths.

These are in addition to the 3m and 5m cased Weiss Diameter Tapes which are also available from TreeMarker.

We have recently extended our Diameter Tape range to include Weiss Diameter Tapes from Germany. This includes loose DBH tapes for ease of tree diameter measurement in the forest, available in 1.5m and 2.5m lengths; and a manual rewind Diameter Tape in a PVC coated steel case, with foldable hook, in 3m and 5m lengths.

These diameter tapes from Weiss have metric graduations for measuring circumference and girth on the top side of the girth tape, and PI graduations for measuring diameter and tree DBH on the underside of the tape.

Loose DBH Tapes

The loose DBH tapes are ideal for quick and easy measurement, being just the right length but not too long, and can be placed round the back of the neck and across the shoulders between measurements.

These case-less diameter tapes have a stainless-steel end-ring, known as commencement C, through which the diameter tape can be threaded, otherwise held comfortably by finger or thumb. The graduations start at the inside of the ring.

For larger trees, the 3m and 5m cased versions have a quick and easy to use manual rewind and come with a foldable hook, known as commencement H. The tip of the claw hook is quite sharp, which holds tight when put into the bark of a tree, facilitating DBH and girth measurement of large diameter trees. The graduations start 10cm from the hook.

All our Weiss Diameter Tapes are 16mm wide, yellow fibreglass tapes, meaning they are both strong and waterproof, with black graduations on both sides of the tape, circumference graduations in cm on the top, PI graduations in mm on the underside of the tape.
